Following the guidelines stated by the Department for Digital, Media, Culture and Sport throughout this current lockdown for Metal Detecting and the restrictions placed upon it, we are delighted to bring you the news we had all been lobbying the DCMS via our own and hobbyists emails and our  own sadly aborted petition.

Dear Dave

Further to your previous emails, this is to let you know that revised guidance on metal detecting has been published on the Guidance on searching for archaeological finds in England during COVID-19 gov.uk page.’

Therefore, as exercise, metal detecting is now permitted on private land, subject to the restrictions and in accordance with the Regulations, please read the guidance for your awareness.

Please abide by the restrictions, take care whilst in the fields, enjoy yourselves and we’ll done to all who contacted their MP’s, Sporting alliance and DCMS.

Please find the updated regulations here.
