Roman excavations in Leicester reveal second century Britons of African descent

An archaeological dig of Roman graves has turned up tantalising new evidence of Britain’s long-standing multicultural heritage.

The excavations turned up “exciting new insights” including what are thought to be British-born people of African descent living – and dying – in Leicester as long ago as the 2nd century AD.
