An incredible find was made this weekend at a KC Rallies event, a group owned by Detectorist Keith Campbell who run regular group digs.
Searching a field near Malvern , a civil parish in Worcestershire, with the KC rallies group Detectorist Garry Williams made an incredible discovery – He unearthed 51 William III Silver shillings and sixpences.
The coins date back to 1697.
Keith said “It was so exciting when the coins were found and they were only about 4 to six inches deep, whoever buried them was probably in a hurry – its incredible to find a hoard of this size”
The value of the hoard is yet to be determined and the correct process is being followed with The coroner’s court now deciding what to do with the coins in line with the Treasure Act 1996.
William III reigned from 1689 – 8 March 1702 and was widely known as William Of Orange.
archmdmag would like to congratulate the finder Gary and Keith for sourcing such fantastic land ! Keep it up – We cannot wait to see what KC Rallies unearth next !
