The original “mudlarks” were desperately poor 19th century children who would go down to the River Thames at low tide to see what had been washed up and could be sold to make a little money. Today’s mudlarks look not for treasure but for history. Lawrence Pollard speaks to Lara Maiklem, who goes by the name of London Mudlark.
